MTPE at HeliCo
In the online marketing sector, which is constantly in flux, the need for investment in MTPE is increasing day by day, so there may be variations in the MTPE business volume over the years.
In the bar chart below, you can see our MTPE volume between 2014-2022 (also indicating our projected business volume until the end of the year). We had an uptick between 2014 and 2016 due to increased investments made by e-commerce companies such as Amazon, eBay, and AliExpress.
Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE)
At the MTPE stage, the post-editor is expected to correct the target text (MT output) created by the MT tool in line with the customer's request and make the text appropriate for the purpose and the target audience. MTPE usually consists of these three steps:

Types of Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE)
Our post-editors, who are specialized in this field, make MTPE in the text by adapting the MT output according to the purpose and target audience of the text by considering your request. MTPE has mainly three different types: full post-editing, light post-editing, and premium MTPE. Full post-editing service is provided if the translation is required to be similar to human translation, and Light Post-Editing is provided if the translation is intended to be only intelligible.
1. Full Post-Editing
For the projects that require full post-editing, we provide services in accordance with the following ones:
Ensuring that the MT output is grammatically, syntactically, and semantically correct,
Eliminating spelling, spelling, and punctuation mistakes in the target text,
Ensuring that the terminology is correct and consistent,
Ensuring that the terms in the "terms that should not be translated" list provided by the customer are not translated,
Ensuring that there are no untranslated segments or untranslated parts within the segment,
Ensuring that the target text is intelligible and fluent,
Ensuring that the target text does not contain added, omitted, and/or repeated content,
Eliminating and/or editing content from MT output that could be classified as culturally offensive, calumnious, and/or inconvenient to the target audience.
2. Light Post-Editing
For the projects that require light post-editing, we provide services in accordance with the following ones:
Using the MT output (if usable) or providing an MT output usable if it is not,
Correcting spelling mistakes,
Ensuring that there are no untranslated segments or untranslated parts within the segment,
Ensuring that the target text is intelligible,
Ensuring that the target text does not contain added, omitted, and/or repeated content,
Eliminating and/or editing content from MT output that could be classified as culturally offensive, calumnious, and/or inconvenient to the target audience.
3. Premium MTPE
This service, on the other hand, consists of a more comprehensive process. Our Project Managers work with specialized post-editors during the MTPE processes. The post-editors perform full post-editing on the MT output. After the full MTPE step has been completed, our Project Managers work with a second translator to revise the post-editing step to ensure that the target language content meets all requirements and project-specific instructions.
