ON VERBAL SOLUTIONS

  • What is Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI)?
Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI) is a method of interpreting where interpreters provide real-time interpretation remotely, typically via video conferencing or specialized RSI platforms. RSI allows multilingual communication to take place in various settings, such as conferences, meetings, or virtual events.
  • How does RSI work?
RSI platforms facilitate the seamless delivery of interpretation services. Typically, event organizers or participants connect to an RSI platform, where interpreters are assigned to specific language channels. Interpreters listen to the speaker's words and simultaneously interpret them into the target language, which is transmitted to the participants via the RSI platform.
  • What are RSI platforms?
RSI platforms are software or web-based solutions designed to support remote simultaneous interpreting. These platforms provide features such as audio and video streaming, channel management, interpreter interfaces, and sometimes additional functionalities like chat, document sharing, or virtual booths. At HeliCo, we offer you options such as Interprefy and SpeakUs.
  • What types of events or situations are suitable for RSI platforms?
RSI platforms are suitable for various events and situations where real-time interpretation is needed. This includes conferences, seminars, webinars, virtual meetings, panel discussions, training sessions, and other multilingual gatherings where participants speak different languages.
  • What are the advantages of using RSI platforms compared to on-site interpretation?
RSI platforms offer several advantages over on-site interpretation. These include cost savings associated with travel and accommodation for interpreters, increased flexibility for remote participants, scalability for large events, the ability to accommodate multiple languages simultaneously, and the convenience of accessing interpretation services remotely from any location.
  • Can RSI platforms integrate with other event technologies?
Yes, the RSI platforms we use offer integration capabilities with various event technologies, including video conferencing platforms, webinar software, or virtual event platforms. While Microsoft Teams is frequently used, the options are limitless. This integration enables the smooth integration of interpretation services into the overall event experience. As a result, you have the flexibility to use any meeting app you require, including those supported by your government.
  • Are RSI platforms suitable for sensitive or confidential discussions?
RSI platforms are suitable for sensitive or confidential discussions, provided that the platform prioritizes data security and encryption protocols. It is important to choose a reputable RSI platform that offers secure communication channels and complies with relevant privacy and data protection regulations. At HeliCo, we give importance to data protection, so, we prefer offering you remote interpretation services using RSI platforms such as Interprefy and SpeakUs.
  • Who controls the performance of the interpreters when we use the RSI platform?
Our Interpretation Coordinators! RSI platforms have an interface with advanced control features, thanks to this interface, our Interpretation Coordinators both monitor the performance of our interpreters and find solutions to any problems that may occur during the entire event. Additionally, they offer support which includes troubleshooting technical difficulties, assisting with participant access to language channels, or providing guidance on platform features and functionalities.
  • Is training required for our participants to use RSI platforms?
RSI platforms are designed to be user-friendly, making it easy for your participants to access the interpretation service we provide via the RSI platform of your choice. With just a few clicks, they can find their way to the interpretation service. In fact, we provide a handy instruction file that you can share with your participants in advance. Additionally, we can assist you in announcing the usage of the specific RSI platform at the beginning of your events or sessions to ensure a smooth experience.
  • What is consecutive interpreting?
Consecutive interpreting is a mode of interpretation where the speaker delivers a message or speech, and pauses frequently to allow the interpreter to interpret their words into the target language. The interpreter will deliver the interpretation in small chunks, allowing the speaker to continue once they have finished interpreting. This mode of interpreting is called consecutive interpreting and is often used in small meetings, business negotiations, and other situations where only a few people need interpretation services.
  • How is consecutive interpretation done?
For consecutive interpreting, the speaker finishes a few sentences and pauses to allow the interpreter some time to interpret what was said. In the interim, the interpreter performs consecutive interpretations between the source language and the target language. Consecutive interpreting is a mode of interpreting where the interpreter listens to the speaker, takes notes, and then interprets the message into the target language in small chunks. Typically, the speaker will pause after a few sentences to allow the interpreter time to convey the message. During the pause, the interpreter will provide an accurate interpretation of what was said, often using notes taken during the speech to aid in the interpretation process. This mode of interpreting is often used in smaller, more intimate settings, such as meetings, negotiations, or one-on-one conversations.
  • When and where is consecutive interpreting used?
Consecutive interpretation is often used in situations where the audience is small and direct interaction between the speaker and attendees is expected, such as in business meetings, negotiations, legal proceedings, medical appointments, or small workshops. It allows for a more conversational style of interpretation and facilitates a higher level of engagement between the parties involved. However, consecutive interpretation may not be suitable for events with a large audience or where interpretation is needed simultaneously.
  • What is more accurate: consecutive or simultaneous interpretation?
If you are organizing an event where you need to reach many people from many languages at the same time, it would be much more accurate to get simultaneous interpreting services. However, you can prefer consecutive interpreting in situations where there are fewer participants and they speak in turn. Both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation methods have their advantages and disadvantages depending on the event's nature and requirements. Consecutive interpretation is generally more accurate than simultaneous interpretation as the interpreter has time to analyze and interpret the speaker's message. However, it may take more time as the speaker and interpreter take turns speaking. On the other hand, simultaneous interpretation allows for a faster flow of communication, but the interpreter has less time to analyze and interpret the speaker's message, which may lead to slight inaccuracies. The choice between the two methods depends on the specific requirements of the event and the client's preferences.
  • What is the difference between a simultaneous interpreter and a consecutive interpreter?
While both simultaneous and consecutive interpreters are professionals who specialize in interpreting between languages, they differ in their interpretation technique. A simultaneous interpreter provides a real-time interpretation of the speaker's words while they are speaking, speaking at the same time as the speaker, while a consecutive interpreter waits for the speaker to pause or finish speaking before beginning the interpretation. Simultaneous interpreting requires specialized equipment such as headsets and soundproof booths, while consecutive interpreting does not necessarily require any equipment beyond a microphone.
  • What are the skills of a consecutive interpreter?
An expert consecutive interpreter has excellent active listening skills, carefully analyzes the speaker's message, takes effective notes during pauses, and then delivers the interpreted message in the most appropriate manner. They possess a deep understanding of the relevant terminology, and are highly proficient in both the source and target languages.
  • How to evaluate the quality of consecutive interpretation?
At HeliCo, we follow some steps to evaluate consecutive interpreting quality: 1. We check our consecutive interpreters' skills and test their potential. 2. We collaborate with our Vendor Managers to measure their performance and note what we get. 3. We get support from our Interpretation Coordinators and technicians for the interpreting process. The quality of consecutive interpretation can also be evaluated based on several factors, such as accuracy, fluency, completeness, and cultural sensitivity. Accuracy refers to the interpreter's ability to convey the meaning of the speaker's words accurately without omitting or adding any information. Fluency relates to the interpreter's ability to deliver the interpretation smoothly, with appropriate intonation, rhythm, and pace. Completeness indicates whether the interpreter has conveyed all of the relevant information provided by the speaker. Cultural sensitivity refers to the interpreter's ability to understand and respect the cultural nuances and differences between the source and target languages. At HeliCo, we use a rigorous evaluation process to ensure the quality of our consecutive interpretation services, which includes testing and training our interpreters, monitoring their performance, and providing support from our Interpretation Coordinators and technicians.
  • Is whispered interpreting a kind of consecutive interpreting?
No. Whispered interpreting is a type of interpretation in which a linguist whispers a message to the client while interpreting it from one language into another. This is a type of simultaneous interpreting because the rendering is being done as the speaker is speaking.
  • What is a hybrid event?
A hybrid event combines both virtual and face-to-face experiences, meaning that some participants attend the event in person while others participate online. This allows for a more flexible and inclusive event experience, as participants can choose the format that works best for them.
  • Which equipment do we need for our hybrid event? Do you provide interpretation equipment for hybrid events?
When organizing a hybrid event, you may need equipment such as a sound-insulated interpretation booth, infrared receivers, a central control unit, and more. These tools help ensure that your event runs smoothly and that all participants can access the interpretation services they need. At HeliCo, we offer a range of interpretation equipment and services to support your hybrid event. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your needs and learn more about our offerings.
  • What’s the difference between translation and interpretation?
Translation and interpretation are two different language services. Translation refers to the written transfer of content from one language to another, while interpretation involves the spoken transfer of language. Translation typically involves written documents such as books, articles, manuals, and websites, whereas interpretation is more commonly used in live events such as conferences, meetings, and presentations.
  • What is the difference between the simultaneous interpretation and consecutive interpretation?
Consecutive interpretation involves the interpreter waiting for the speaker to pause before conveying the message in the target language in segments. This means that the speaker needs to stop and let the interpreter speak. In contrast, simultaneous interpretation starts almost immediately after the speaker begins talking, with the interpreter conveying the spoken content into the target language within three seconds. At physical events, simultaneous interpretation particularly requires interpretation equipment such as sound-insulated booths and receivers, while for consecutive interpretation, insulated booths are not required.
  • What are the different types of interpreting services available?
Interpreting services are available in many different forms to meet your specific needs. At HeliCo, we offer simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting, whisper interpreting, and liaison interpreting services. Simultaneous interpreting is ideal for large conferences and events where real-time interpretation is required, and the interpreter is situated in a sound-insulated booth while the audience hears the interpretation through headphones. Consecutive interpreting involves the speaker pausing at intervals to allow the interpreter to convey the message in the target language. Whisper interpreting is when the interpreter speaks quietly to the individual or small group, and liaison interpreting is ideal for business meetings and negotiations. Moreover, we also offer remote interpreting services, which can be accessed through an online platform, ideal for virtual events and video conferences. No matter what your interpretation needs may be, we can provide the most suitable interpreting service for you to ensure that your message is conveyed accurately and effectively.
  • Which type of interpretation do I need?
Choosing between different interpretation services depends on various factors such as the nature of your event, the size of your audience, and the level of interaction between the speaker and audience. For instance, if you're hosting a large conference where multiple languages are spoken, simultaneous interpretation may be the best option. However, if you're hosting a smaller meeting or a legal proceeding, consecutive interpretation may be more appropriate. There are also interpretation solutions at hybrid events, remote interpretation as well as various interpretation service types such as whisper or liaison interpretation. We can provide you with a consultation to determine the best interpretation service for your needs. Contact us, and our experts will help you choose the most suitable interpretation option for your event.
  • How should I decide on which interpreting services to request?
When deciding on which interpreting services to request, it's important to consider the specific needs of your event or meeting. For instance, if you're holding a large conference with multiple speakers and attendees from different countries, simultaneous interpretation services may be the best choice. On the other hand, if you're conducting a smaller meeting or negotiation, consecutive interpretation services may be more appropriate. To make an informed decision, it's helpful to consult with an experienced interpretation provider like us. Our team can offer guidance and recommendations based on the nature of your event, the number of languages involved, and other important factors. Contact us to learn more about our interpreting services and get started on your next successful event!
  • What should I look for from an interpreting service provider?
It is crucial to feel confident in your interpreting service provider's experience and expertise. Look for a provider that has a proven track record in delivering high-quality services, as well as a well-established operations team who can let you have the required services at the level of professionalism that you need. In addition, it's essential to ensure that the provider is ISO compliant, adhering to the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Ultimately, a reliable interpreting service provider should provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your event or communication is in the hands of professionals who can deliver the level of service you need.
  • What does an interpreter do? What are the different roles of an interpreter?
Interpreters have various roles depending on the setting and context of the interpretation. In general, they facilitate communication between two or more parties who speak different languages. Interpreters may act as a conduit between individuals or groups, accurately conveying messages from one language to another. They may also provide cultural and linguistic context. Interpreters at HeliCo represent you as you need to be represented to give the people you communicate with through interpretation the right impression.
  • What does an Interpretation Coordinator do?
An Interpretation Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that your interpreting needs are met flawlessly. They oversee the logistics of each event, whether remote or on-site, to ensure that the interpreters and technicians arrive on time and perform their jobs to your satisfaction. They also ensure that the interpretation equipment is set up in the right location and meets your specific requirements. In addition, they are there to handle any unexpected issues that may arise and to constantly monitor the interpreters and equipment to ensure that everything runs smoothly. In short, the Interpretation Coordinator is your go-to person for all interpretation-related logistics and support.
  • How many interpreters do we need for our event?
At HeliCo, we typically assign two interpreters for events lasting more than one hour. The interpreters alternate every 20-30 minutes to ensure the highest quality interpreting services. However, the number of interpreters needed may vary depending on factors such as the number of languages involved, the number of rooms where you will need interpretation, and whether you might need to have group activities at a part of your event. Contact us to discuss your specific interpreting needs, and our team will provide you with a customized solution.
  • What is remote consecutive interpreting?
Remote consecutive interpreting is a form of interpretation where the speech is delivered online, and the interpretation is provided sequentially and in segments. Unlike simultaneous interpreting, the speaker and interpreter do not speak simultaneously. Instead, the interpreter waits for the speaker to finish a few sentences or a segment of the speech before providing the interpretation. Similarly, the speaker then pauses to allow the interpreter to convey the interpretation. This process involves taking turns between the speaker and interpreter, allowing for a smooth and understandable flow of communication. In remote events, this type of interpretation is facilitated without the need for separate language channels. The interpreter participates in the online event as a participant would, providing consecutive interpretation as required.
  • When and where is remote consecutive interpreting used?
Remote consecutive interpreting is a flexible solution that can be used in a variety of settings and situations. Whether you're holding a one-on-one meeting with a client or conducting a large-scale workshop or training session, remote consecutive interpreting can help ensure that your message is accurately conveyed to all participants, regardless of language barriers. With the convenience of online platforms, remote consecutive interpreting allows for seamless communication between individuals and groups across the globe. • How can the participants listen to the remote consecutive interpretation?
In remote consecutive interpretation, all participants can listen to the interpretation without the need to select channels. Unlike remote simultaneous interpretation, the consecutive interpretation occurs sequentially with the speaker. The speaker speaks a few sentences and pauses for the interpreter to provide the interpretation. This turn-taking process allows participants to hear the interpretation seamlessly. This can be achieved through any online meeting app, eliminating the need for specific interpretation features. The speaker and interpreter take turns, ensuring smooth communication during the event.
  • From which devices can I connect to the remote interpreting platform?

  • How many minutes can a simultaneous interpreter work without interruption?

This is to ensure that the interpreters can take breaks every 20-30 minutes and rest their minds and voices to maintain the quality of their interpretations. We recommend contacting us for a consultation so we can help determine the ideal number of interpreters for your specific event.
  • Do simultaneous interpreters specialize in particular topics?
Our simultaneous interpreters specialize in particular fields such as safety and security, finance, legal, medical, technical, or IT. This allows them to have a deeper understanding of the terminology and jargon used in these fields and to provide accurate and efficient interpretation services. At HeliCo, we are good at matching the interpreter's expertise to your event's needs to ensure the best possible results.
  • Why do interpreters need the agenda of the conference?
The conference agenda is essential for us to accurately determine the number of interpreters required, the necessary language combinations, and the specific expertise required for each interpreter based on the event's subject matter. This allows us to ensure that we provide you with the most effective interpretation service possible, tailored to your specific needs. Additionally, interpreters require the agenda of the conference to research and prepare for the event in advance. This enables them to familiarize themselves with the topics and terminology that will be discussed, allowing them to provide accurate and precise interpretations during the event.
  • Do you provide on-site technicians? What tasks do they perform? Would they be available for the duration of the event?

  • What is conference interpreting?
Conference interpreting is the practice of conveying spoken words from one language to another in real-time during conferences, meetings, or other large-scale events. Conference interpreters work in pairs and use specialized equipment, such as microphones, headsets, and interpretation booths, to ensure that the interpretation is delivered accurately and simultaneously to the audience. Conference interpreting requires not only fluency in multiple languages but also knowledge of the subject matter being discussed in the event.
  • How much time would be required to set up the interpretation equipment for an in-person conference?
Typically, the set-up time for interpretation equipment at an in-person conference can vary depending on the size and complexity of the event. To ensure a smooth and timely start to your event, we make sure to set up the equipment the day before the event, allowing you to begin your morning events without delay. Our Interpretation Coordinator will make sure that our experienced technicians will arrive at the venue as early as needed and work efficiently to ensure that all equipment is set up and tested and that any potential issues are resolved before the event begins.
  • What is relay interpretation and when is it used?
Relay interpretation is a mode of interpretation where the original speaker communicates in one language, which is then interpreted by an interpreter in a second language, who then reinterprets it into a third language for the audience. This type of interpretation is used when there are three or more languages being spoken in the same room at an event and direct interpretation from each language is not possible. Relay interpretation is an effective solution for multilingual events where neither the source nor the target language of interpretation is English, in which case no professional interpreter can be naturally found. We offer relay interpreting at remote, physical, and hybrid events.
  • What is whispered interpreting?
In whispered interpretation, also known as "chuchotage" in French, rather than working in a soundproof booth with earphones, the interpreter whispers the interpretation to the person who needs it. This type of interpreting is commonly used when only one or a few participants require interpretation, such as during a business meeting or negotiation where communication has to be conducted in a mobile environment.
  • What is a tour-guide system?
A tour-guide system, also known as an "Infoport", is a portable and lightweight system that can be used for simultaneous interpretation when delegates and interpreters need to be on the move. The system consists of a radio transmitter and headsets, which allow the interpreter to speak into the transmitter while the delegates listen to the interpretation through their headsets. This system is particularly useful for events such as factory or site visits, where participants need to move around and need interpretation services. The system is highly convenient, as it eliminates the need for bulky and wired equipment and allows interpreters and participants to move around freely.
  • How much does simultaneous interpretation cost?
Simultaneous interpreting costs depend on several factors such as the number of languages required, the length of the event, the number of participants, the availability of qualified interpreters for the specific language and subject matter in a given location, the location where the interpretation will be provided, the equipment required, and the meeting room characteristics. To receive a precise cost breakdown, contact us by filling out the quote request form. We will provide you with clear interpretation pricing information based on your requirements.
  • Can we be charged based on half-day rates or hourly rates for physical interpretation?
When it comes to physical interpretation, interpreters typically reserve their whole day for the interpretation task. As a result, we usually charge for a full-day rate rather than half-day or hourly rates. This is because the interpreter cannot take on other work for the day, and their expertise and attention are fully dedicated to your event. If you need interpretation for only one hour or two hours, we highly recommend requesting our remote interpretation services for the best total cost.
  • How can we have a successful on-site event using interpretation services?
To have a successful on-site event using interpretation services, it is essential to provide accurate and detailed information about the event in advance, work with experienced and professional interpreters, and ensure that the interpretation equipment is set up properly. At HeliCo, you are guaranteed to have a hassle-free process thanks to our expert interpreters, Interpretation Coordinators, and technicians.
  • How do I get on-site simultaneous interpreting service?
To get on-site simultaneous interpreting service, you can contact us, provide details about your event, language requirements, and any other necessary information, and request a quote. We will get back to you in a short while with all the information you need.

  • How to use simultaneous interpretation in Zoom?
Zoom offers an easy-to-use solution for remote simultaneous interpretation. Once the meeting or webinar begins, the host can initiate interpretation, allowing our skilled and experienced interpreters to provide interpretation through language channels for the intended target language. Attendees can select the audio channel of their preference to hear the translated audio in real time. The original audio can also be muted or heard at a reduced volume while listening to the interpreted audio. This makes it possible for participants to engage in multilingual discussions seamlessly and with ease.
  • How do you guarantee that there are no interruptions to the remote interpretation?
We understand the importance of seamless remote interpretation. That's why we work with top-notch interpreters and provide dedicated support from our Interpretation Coordinator to ensure a hassle-free experience. Our Interpretation Coordinator ensures a smooth process by double-checking the sound and connection quality of interpreters, making sure that their voices don't overlap or there are no interruptions to the remote interpretation throughout your event.
  • How is the remote interpreting rate decided?
We provide transparent and flexible pricing for our remote interpreting services. Our rates are determined based on the market price of each language pair and the number of interpreters required. Our team works with you to understand your specific needs and provide you with an accurate quote for our services. You always have an Interpretation Coordinator at your remote events for free.
  • How complicated is it to switch to remote interpreting or connect remote speakers?
Switching to remote interpreting or connecting remote speakers is easier than you may think! With the help of RSI platforms that have a user-friendly system, the entire process can be made simple and hassle-free. Our team at HeliCo can also guide you through the process and provide support to ensure a seamless experience for all participants.
  • What if the internet goes down at my remote event?
In case of an internet outage during your remote event, we've taken all necessary precautions to ensure a nice interpretation experience. We assign interpreters in pairs, and each project is supported by our Interpretation Coordinators who are trained to handle any emergencies that may arise. Additionally, we use a redundant server network and prefer ethernet over Wi-Fi for a reliable internet connection. Rest assured that we are fully prepared to handle any potential disruptions to ensure that your event runs smoothly.
  • What is VRI?
VRI, or Video Remote Interpreting, is a versatile service that combines the benefits of face-to-face interpretation with the convenience of remote communication. It allows for interpreting sessions to take place over video calls, making it an ideal solution for situations like over-the-phone sessions where visual cues may be necessary.
  • Are there any disadvantages of remote interpreting?
Although remote interpreting offers many advantages, it may not be suitable for every situation. For example, if you require a more interactive format such as group workshops and if consecutive interpretation is needed for a part of your event, it may be better to have interpreters on site. In such cases, we recommend on-site interpretation. However, if you don't expect any constant dialogues at your event, especially at fairs, conferences, etc., er definitely recommend remote interpreting, which will come with many advantages.
  • Does your interpreting platform include a desktop app, and/or a web-based app, and/or a mobile app? Are they used by both listeners and interpreters?
The availability of our desktop, web-based, and mobile apps depends on the meeting app you choose to use. If you already have a preferred meeting app, we can connect our RSI platform to it. To hear the interpretation, you will need to use one of our intuitive desktop or mobile apps. Both listeners and interpreters use these apps, but the interfaces are different to cater to each user's needs.
  • What functions do the remote interpreting apps that you use to have?
Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) apps generally have three different interfaces: one for listeners, one for interpreters, and one for interpretation coordinators. The listener interface allows users to select the language they want to hear and mute the interpreter if needed. It's important to note that listeners are not intended to speak using RSI apps as their audio won't be transmitted to the interpreters. Interpreters and Interpretation Coordinators, on the other hand, can use RSI apps to communicate with each other via a chat function and issue warnings if needed. The Interpretation Coordinator also has the ability to mute the interpreters if they are speaking simultaneously. For a more detailed understanding of our RSI platform and its features, we encourage you to read our informative articles.
  • How much time would be required to set up for a virtual event from the initial request?
The amount of time required to set up a virtual event can vary depending on several factors such as whether you will need us to host the event or not and whether you need to use a specific meeting app without interpretation channels. If you ask us to host your remote event and choose a meeting app from the options we provide that allows your participants and speakers to join the event, we will need to invite all of your participants to the event and this will take time depending on the number of participants. If you are planning to host the event on a meeting app without features for interpretation, we will need to connect a Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) platform with the app of your choice, after which we recommend a half-an-hour test call. If this is not the case and you will be the host, set-up for a completely remote meeting is not something to take time.
  • If your platform supports session recording, where are the recordings stored and how can we get them?
By default, we do not record sessions. However, if you require session recording, we can accommodate your request. The event can be recorded on the computer of the host or in the cloud, and we can send you the recording immediately after the event is completed if you request it. Please let us know in advance if you would like to have your session recorded so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
  • Is there a maximum number of users allowed? If so, what is it?
The maximum number of users allowed can vary depending on the platform or software you choose to use for your virtual event. For instance, if you opt to use Zoom, the free version allows for up to 100 participants, while changing to a different account type can accommodate up to 500 participants. It's best to check the specifications of the platform you prefer to determine the maximum number of users it can accommodate.
  • Can you assist us in choosing the remote meeting platform?
Yes! At HeliCo, we can assist you to choose the best remote meeting platform in line with your needs and demands. You may contact our expert team to find out more!
  • Can you provide remote simultaneous interpretation for multiple rooms or breakout rooms?
Yes, we can provide remote simultaneous interpretation for multiple rooms or breakout rooms. However, the process depends on whether we use an appropriate meeting app with interpretation channels or an RSI platform that allows us to create breakout rooms. If we use a regular meeting app like Zoom without interpretation channels, we will need to switch to remote consecutive interpretation during breakout sessions. It is important to note that using consecutive interpretation will extend the length of your event because both the speaker and the interpreter cannot speak at the same time, and the speaker will need to pause regularly to allow for interpretation every two to three sentences.
  • What is the difference between a meeting app and an RSI platform?
Meeting apps and Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) platforms have some similarities in terms of features such as screen sharing, document uploading, and messaging in the chat for participants. However, RSI platforms have a specific user interface designed for both participants and interpreters. In addition, RSI platforms provide language channels and multiple rooms for interpreters to work more efficiently. While some meeting apps may have similar features, they may not offer enough support for interpretation services, such as channels or breakout rooms.
  • Why do we need to count a half-an-hour as an hour?
It is common practice in the remote interpretation industry to charge rates based on hourly or full-day blocks, in accordance with the code of ethics of the interpretation industry. This helps to ensure that interpreters are available for the entirety of an event and to avoid scheduling conflicts. Furthermore, a half-hour session can often extend into a full hour during events, which is another reason why hourly rates are preferred. By charging on an hourly or full-day basis if you are expecting your event to last more than 4 hours in a row, it also makes it easier for you to budget and plan for interpretation services.
  • How can voice-overs influence brand recognition and memorability in commercial films and trailers?
A carefully chosen voice artist with the right tone, style, and personality can enhance brand identity and leave a lasting impression on the audience. A distinctive and engaging voice can make the brand stand out, making it easier for consumers to recall and recognize the product or service. Additionally, an expert voice-over artist can evoke emotions, create a connection with the viewers, and reinforce the message's impact. Whether it's a warm and friendly voice for a family-oriented product or a confident and authoritative voice for a luxury brand, we are ready to influence your brand recognition positively!
  • In what situations might you need voice-over services other than advertising or documentary voice-overs?
Voice-over services find applications beyond advertising or documentary work in various situations. For instance, in the e-learning industry, voice-overs are essential for creating educational content, tutorials, and training modules, making complex subjects more accessible. Video games often require voice-over artists to bring characters to life and provide an immersive experience for players. In the realm of corporate presentations and explainer videos, voice-overs help convey information more effectively. Medical narrations, phone system greetings, and voicemail recordings also rely on voice-over services to ensure clear communication. Essentially, in any scenario where spoken narration is needed, whether it's for education, entertainment, or communication, you can benefit from our professional voice-over services by contacting us.
  • How many words can a voice-over artist handle per day?
The number of words a voice-over artist can handle per day varies based on several factors including the artist's experience, the complexity of the content, and the required quality. Generally, professional voice-over artists can comfortably manage around 3,500 to 4,000 words of high-quality recording per day for straightforward projects. However, for more complex content with technical terminology or intricate nuances, this rate might decrease significantly to ensure top-notch quality and accuracy.
  • What equipment is required for voice-over and dubbing?
Essential equipment for voice-over and dubbing includes a high-quality microphone, soundproof recording studio, professional headphones, pop filter, shock mount, computer with audio recording software, and a skilled sound engineer for post-production tasks.
  • How do you ensure Quality Assurance in voice-over services?
The completion of the final project involves a thorough review to guarantee the accuracy of the recorded voiceover. Our team meticulously checks every aspect of the audio, making certain that it aligns with the client's requirements and standards. We also employ various post-production techniques to enhance the overall quality of the audio. This includes editing to remove any imperfections, cleaning to eliminate unwanted noise, and mixing to ensure a balanced and immersive sound experience. These meticulous steps are taken to ensure that no errors are overlooked, and the final product meets the highest standards of excellence. Once the project has undergone these rigorous quality checks and improvements, it is prepared for delivery to you by our Project Management Team.

This means that you can reach a wider audience, expand your business, and promote international cooperation with ease.
  • Which languages do you offer for remote consecutive interpreting services?
Great question! At HeliCo, we are proud to offer remote consecutive interpreting services in a wide range of languages, including European, Asian, and American languages. Our team of expert interpreters has experience and fluency in various languages, ensuring that we can meet the needs of our clients no matter what language they require. We understand the importance of clear and accurate communication, which is why we work hard to provide high-quality interpreting services in every language we offer.

  • What is simultaneous interpretation?
Simultaneous interpretation is a real-time interpretation from one language to another. The interpreter listens to the speaker's speech through a headset in a sound-isolated booth or room and immediately (within 3 seconds) relays the interpretation to the audience via microphone. Highly skilled interpreters who are trained in simultaneous interpretation are used in this service.
  • When and where is simultaneous interpreting used?
Simultaneous interpreting services are commonly used for international events, company training courses, seminars, conferences, opening speeches, onboarding events, and other situations where there is a need for real-time interpretation.
  • How is simultaneous interpretation performed?
Simultaneous interpretation is provided by two interpreters for each language pair spoken at your event. Interpreters start interpreting the spoken content in the target language within no more than three seconds and complete the interpretation a few seconds after the speaker has finished speaking.
  • How many minutes can a simultaneous interpreter work without interruption?
Simultaneous interpreters typically work in pairs and alternate every 20-30 minutes to avoid fatigue and maintain accuracy. This is because simultaneous interpreting requires a high level of concentration and mental effort to interpret speech in real-time without pauses, which can be mentally and physically exhausting.
  • Do you provide simultaneous interpretation equipment?
Absolutely! We are pleased to offer top-of-the-line simultaneous interpretation equipment. We take pride in providing reliable and efficient interpretation services, and our equipment is no exception. Contact us today to discuss with us how we can help make your event a success!

We have the capacity to handle large-scale multilingual events with ease. With our services, you can be confident that your event will be a success, regardless of the number of languages needed. Therefore, we can assure you that we will always provide you with efficient interpreting services with the best interpreters in the languages within our capacity.
  • How many simultaneous interpreters do I need for a two-hour event?
As a rule of thumb, you will need two interpreters per language pair for events lasting more than an hour.
Yes, we provide on-site technicians as part of our on-site simultaneous interpretation services. They perform a variety of tasks such as setting up and testing the interpretation equipment together with our Interpretation Coordinator. Our technicians are highly skilled and experienced in managing interpretation equipment and are available for the duration of the event to ensure that any technical issues can be resolved quickly and efficiently, allowing for a seamless and successful event.
Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) is widely used in various settings such as international conferences, online real-time courses, educational workshops, and seminars, one-on-one meetings, business meetings, negotiations, medical consultations, and appointments. It is especially helpful for opening speeches, where there are multiple languages and participants, and where it's crucial to have accurate and efficient communication. In short, RSI can be used in any situation where people who speak different languages need to communicate effectively in real time and would like to have the luxury of doing this remotely.

Whether you choose to use an online meeting app without interpretation features or a dedicated RSI platform, we can seamlessly integrate our services to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted interpretation experience. Our team can also provide participants with a special conference code and easy-to-follow instructions on how to use the RSI platform, making it convenient for everyone to access and benefit from our interpretation services. For consultation on available platforms, please feel free to send a customized message.

A distinctive and engaging voice can make the brand stand out, making it easier for consumers to recall and recognize the product or service.

ON QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Video games often require voice-over artists to bring characters to life and provide an immersive experience for players.
